Fort Kochi, India 9/1/08

Arrived in Fort Kochi after my first train journey in India and found a great homestay place (Saj Home) which was really nice.

Went out to explore and discovered that Fort Kochi is like a maze and very easy to get lost in after dark!

Watched our first bit of India TV which was really good and quite funny.

The following morning, after a recommendation by our host, we got the local ferry over to Cherrai Beach which was so long that you couldn't see either end of it and was almost totally deserted except for a middle aged Indian nudist! That was a surprise.

We also walked around town and saw the Dutch Palace, Jew Town and St. Francis church (were Vasco da Gama was buried for 14 years, until being dug up again). We then wandered around and watch the fishermen operating the chinese fishing nets (they didn't catch much though)

We both really like it here as it has a relaxed atmosphere and nice people.
